Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) is a process used to treat medical conditions and improve overall health through diet and nutrition.
When you get the first step of MNT is to assess the patient's current eating habits and health status. The information our nutritionists gain -- both from your medical history and nutrition analysis and from one-on-one telemedicine conversations with you -- is used to develop a personalized plan that meets your specific needs and goals. The plan may include recommendations for dietary changes, lifestyle changes, and/or the use of supplements or other medications.
At Eat Well, we use medical nutrition therapy to help people with a number of personal goals, including:
For many people, making dietary changes is the first step on the road to a healthier lifestyle. MNT can help provide the nutrition education you need to learn how to make better food choices, portion your meals correctly, and develop healthy cooking and eating habits that will last a lifetime.
If you're looking to lose weight, our nutritionists can work with you to create a plan that helps you safely and effectively reach your goals. A nutritionist for weight loss can help you navigate your preferences, choose the right foods to eat, and give you the tools and support you need to make lasting changes.
MNT is an important part of managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure. We can work with you to develop a plan that helps you control your symptoms and improve your overall health. We also provide nutritional counseling for eating disorders for patients who are looking to continue the progress they made in treatment.

When it comes to making changes to your diet, it's important to seek out the guidance of a professional. While there are many options out there for receiving diet advice, a registered dietitian has medical training and is licensed to provide expert nutrition counseling. In fact, following inaccurate diet advice can actually be unsafe. A professional can help you assess your current eating habits and develop a plan that meets your specific needs and goals. They can also provide you with the education and support you need to make lasting changes to your diet and improve your overall health.
There is often confusion about the difference between a nutritionist and a dietitian. First, dietitians are required to complete an accredited program and complete a supervised internship before they can become licensed. Nutritionists learn a more holistic style of nutrition expertise and are not required to complete an accredited program, though many choose to do so.
At Eat Well, our team is made up of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN), so all of our patients get the best of both worlds.
